Why Doesn't The Trace Function Work?

I am working in the trial version of Flex 4.6 SDK and the trace function doesn't seem to work... I have created several applications and in none of them does the message passed to a trace function print to the output screen. That is including applications that do nothing but print a trace function... Anyone know if there is an option I can toggle on or something to get the trace function to actually work?

Are you testing it from the Debug mode rather than from the Run mode?

I am now; It's working fine. Thanks for that, I am really new to this flex stuff I guess!
