Default Can I affect other graphics outside of a button's hit area?

I'm creating a menu bar for a website and I'm having some problems.
I'm pretty new to flash and I feel like there is a way to do what I'm wanting but I just don't know how. I want all of the buttons to have the mouseover grow effect that happens when you mouse over the Home button in the first attached document (ButtonGrowEffect). However I want this to happen while the buttons near it also get a little bigger and the buttons farther from it get smaller, you can see what i mean by mousing over the home button in the second attached document (RelativeButtonMoves). I have created all of the grow and shrink animations in the RelativeButtonMoves doc you can see them by looking at the 7 different symbols in the library but I think because the hit area is so big that it's only reading that I'm mousing over one button instead of separate ones. Is there a way to affect other graphics outside of a button's hit area?
