high quality mp3 (128kbs) - about a tenth of the size with very little difference

in one swf i have the following in the first frame

mySound = new Sound();
mySound.attachSound("music");
mySound.start(0,99999);
stop();

am loading the swf with this code into another swf with the following;

loadMovie("soundFile.swf", 1);

however the music never starts.

i know the first swf works because when i run it hte music plays from the get go. however, when i load the music into any other swf no sound occurs.

I know attaching MC removes the ability to make preloader but i am baffled as to why the sould wouldn't even play when i import it.

I removed the linkage from the file and use a simple mc to test and it works fine when i don't attach it. oh well will keep working on it. let me know if you think of something.

thanx

mySound = new Sound();
mySound.attachSound("music");
mySound.start(0,99999);

this wat only works with the "music" file linkage from the library, so if u removed it sure won't work..... will try to call the "music"sound from the lib and won't b there so will ignore it.

So u need to put the "music" in the new *.swf that the old one has and instaniate it, thus means that this is not the best way.

i.e. as Mr. Billy said it works in _level0

but if u wanna do it as u want, and load it to another movie just drag the sound file and drop it in the time line and expand your frames to fit the whole sound ..... this is not the perfect way to play sound but I think the only way that works with loading swf that has sounds

so then would you recommend all sounds be loaded in the base layer(_level0) and all swf's above that layer make a call to that base(_level0) layer for sound.

if so, could you point me to a tutorial on how to create a preloader work on a file with attached MC.

thanx

Yes I recommend to put all your sound in the _level0, but it will make a hauge size of*.swf

for the attach mc with preloaders I don't think it will be a problem but also I didn't try it ,...... did ya??

post the fla if there is and if u can??
