Default button press state in scrollpane

I have a scrollpane component. I have a simple movie clip with a text field and a button that loads in. I use the highlight of the component to create the mouse over and mouse down states. However I want a press state. So when the button is pressed it has a active state. Is there any way to do this. There will be lots of buttons in the pane I want which ever was last pressed to have active state.
