How would one go about recreating the logo intro (where the text spells itself out) as seen here:

A tutorial would be great if, there isn't one, simply an overview of how it's achieved would be sufficient.

It is probably done with masking, there are millions of tutorials out there for it. but ill roughly explain it for you anyway.

put the text on one layer.

make another layer above it, right click on it and select mask. (NOTE: Make sure the layer with the text it masked, not mask)

make a rectanlge with a black to white linear gradient and tween it across the text.

you should get an effect sort of the that, play around with the rectangle colors and see what happens, that is the best way to learn

I'm pretty new, too, so I'm still trying to figure out what how to tweak things from the online tutorials, as there are often obvious steps that get omitted and newcomers like me miss them!
