Question RSLs in Flex 2

What should we make of the following lines:

Quote:
You cannot use RSLs in ActionScript-only projects if the base class is Sprite or MovieClip. RSLs require that the base class, such as Application or SimpleApplication, understand RSL loading.
Source: About RSLs -- Flex 2.

I mean, it was possible to use RSLs with Flash 8, surely it is still possible with Flash 9 (without the mx framework/flex 2 stuff)?

Default RSLs in (non-Flex 2) Flash 9

Are RSLs supported by AVM2/Flash 9 without the mx.* framework stuff?
This is a crosspost of http://actionscript.org/forums/showthread.php3?t=112699 from the Flex 2 forum... but I guess, this question does concern both AS3 and Flex 2

Those docs are for Flex 2.0. I pretty sure you can/will be able to use RSL's with Flash 9. Thats statement is saying you can't use them with an AS project.

No need for the cross post!

Yes It's just that sometimes it's unclear in which of the two forums to post something...
