Preload and AVI or MPEG?

was wondering if this could be done . then all the user would have to do is push a button and the movie would play. can it be done?

Correct me if I am wrong...

I think you can make a MC that contains your movie file, and place it on the outside of your movie, say -100, -100, of your preloader file... That way your preloader will play little animation until that movie file is loaded... When it is done, you wil be directed to the main timeline and the user can click on the button to see the movie file...
Am I right???

I am desperately trying to get this to work...but it won't! what do you mean by "100, -100"? I imported an avi into an MC, added a preloader to it and loaded the movie into the main timeline...it seems to load the entire MC before running my preloader (ie making the preloader redundant)...am I doing something wrong??
