creating an event calendar with Flash 8?

Hi,
Perhaps someone can tell me if this is possible. I'm completely new to flash, javascript and actionscript. However, i need to build an event calendar that i can host online that is somewhat interactive (like an excel spreadsheet). i was told i could do this with actionscript. Is it possible to make a perpetual calendar on an 'x' axis with a list of project names on the ''y' axis? I'd really appreciate any guidance on what utility can build something like this. Thanks for the help!
