How do I make a fade in fade out effects ?

You use the Alpha setting.
Create your basic symbol (be it a movie clip or a graphic) and put a copy on the stage in a keyframe. Then, select that copy and use the Instance Inspector > Effects Tab to set the alpha to 0. Then create another keyframe somewhere further down the timeline and set the alpha to 100. Then right click the first keyframe and Create Motion Tween, and you should get your clip fading in.... (Test run it with Ctrl Enter) Cheers Jesse
