Default New Flash portfolio

Hi All

Please take the time to have a look at my new portfolio and feel free to leave any comments/suggestions. I have recently graduated and am now on the hunt for employment.

There is a bit of a generative theme going on so if some of the compositions may look a bit odd. There is also an mp3 player which I know can be annoying but hey, I'm trying to show off here.

Thanks in advance

I think you did a great job. Its a bit small for my taste, but good all the same.

heres a couple things i noticed with a quick glance

-your CV link to download .pdf took me to an "error" page
-for the "slideshow on/off" buttons it would be good for the users to know that they clicked it (change the color on click or something). Since it takes a second for the slideshow to work it's hard to tell if the button did anything
-In your Aging a Photo tutorial you spelled Aging wrong in the title. you had it as "Ageing"

That's all I caught with a quick run-through.
I also would prefer it bigger but overall I think its a very nice presentation of your work and a unique design for a site with the background elements flowing nicely with the page transition. I don't mind the mp3 player at all (my sound was off anyway), but you made it very subtle and simple

Thanks guys. I know it's small but I wanted to go for something quite original and I've always liked the look of smaller flash sites such as http://www.disforia.net I like the idea of communicating efficiently in a small well constructed package.

petite minotaure - Thanks for your observations and comments. I'll answer them in turn.

- Well spotted. Thats my next job to produce and upload my CV
- Good idea. I always thought there was something not quite right about that
- You had me worried there for a bit but a quick google revealed that aging is the American spelling and I am English

You should view it again and put your speakers on. Some great tunes if you're into soul, funk and electro/trip hop

cool design!

i like the rollovers on the main nav and how its different depending on whether you're mousing up or down, nice touch! and the random positioning of the leafy pattern in the background is nice too.

i feel like your links are lost down in the bottom right corner. everything else is nice and centered and they're all alone down there. i also thought they were awards. typically thats how sites display the awards they've taken. maybe add a little title that displays onRollover, the name of the site you're linking to.

overall i really like it. good work!

Thanks guys. The buttons have 2 RollOver states and 2 RollOut states. These depend upon whether the cursor came from above or below. There is also an invisible button that surrounds the buttons for when the user moves the cursor away from them. I've never seen this before and believe it may be a first. Please let me know if you have seen it.

I played around with the positioning of the links at the bottom of the site. I tried putting them underneath the edge of the site but they interfered with the swirly graphics. I might make them flash when they firsy appear to make them stand out more.

couple of very minor things

the button for the image the user is viewing should be highlighted in some way so the user knows where they are

only show on or off for the slideshow - not both
