Flash really only allows for HTML formatting. It doesn't allow for HTML in the sense most people expect. Think of it like a simple word-processor that lets you change the color, size and type of your font. And put in HTML links. That's it. So if you have an HTML document which only does these sorts of simple things, you can load it into your text field and use a Flash scroll-bar, but if it's got tables, or images, or anything other than text basically, it wont work.
There are many scrolling tutes on this site. They should all work with HTML formatted text from memory.
