Default Developing for the Wii

Greetings All,

I have recently been informed about the possibilities of developing Wii games in Flash. Due to the Wii's browser it is possible to create games that can be browsed to and played on the Wii. I do not have any details yet as to the development method. I am assuming that you will be able to use the nunchuk somehow to play the games. Perhaps with mouse commands. There are a couple of example games located at www.homestarrunner.com in the games section. Check them out they are as always with Home Star Runner they are hilarious!

I would love to learn more about this development method so if anyone has any further information or example games I would love to take a look!

Actually, as far as I know, the Nunchuk is completely non-accessable, and the Wiimote is limited as JavaScript is the only one that can access buttons besides A, so you'll have to use ExternalInterface, which I'm not even sure works with the Wii. However, I've been looking into it too and I've decided that I'll make games for the computer that use the Wiimote (whoever knew it had bluetooth). You can get the API and server at http://www.wiiflash.org/. It has Nunchuk and IR support, in addition to the regular Wiimote support, free, and going open-source. But I've just decided that if I'm going to make games for the Wii, I'd write it in the Wii's native language. Just my opinion.

Well, the point isn't to write wii games. It's to write games that can be used by the wiimote.

I'm following this (and the PSP flash player) quite a bit myself, because IMO it opens up a whole new audience to Flash gaming, and could turn into a nice way to get a little recognition in the game industry.

I haven't been able to track down a wii yet, so maybe I'm missing something here, but...

If there is no way to code actual events to the wiimote from Flash, how are they playing Flash games on wii now?

BTW, heres another blog about it, but this guy is talking about actually coding in Flash for the wii, not just using the wiimote on a pc. (Which I personally have much less interest in.) :

Sorry to dig this one up, but I was looking into Wii & Flash today and found a JavaScript API for it, which isn't mentioned here yet.

Though I still refuse to buy something as basic and normally free as browser for the Wii I'd love to test around with this
