Default Google

Hi all,

Can anyone tell me why this appears on Google when I search my domain.

"[FLASH]
<p align="left"><font face="DIN ...
File Format: Shockwave Flash
... href="mailto:[email protected]"><b>info@att herefinery.co.uk</b></a></font ... kerning="0"><a href="http://www.attherefinery.co.uk/portfolio.html" ...
www.attherefinery.co.uk/index.swf - Similar pages"

and not the simple description? What am i doing wrong, I dont want people to see this technical info on google, plus its doing it for a number of other clients sites I've done.

Thanks

Howdy and Welcome...

That's the Google result on the specific SWF file and Google automatically searches the content of the SWF file unless it is told not to...
To not include that, you probably have to use robot.txt file...

Check this page out to learn more about it...

Thanks

No, that will affect everything in that directory which might not be what you want... You could specify it like this...
Code:
User-agent: *
Disallow: /htdocs/*.swf
There are some tools you can use to validate the robot.txt file...
http://tool.motoricerca.info/robots-checker.phtml

Oh, don't crosspost... We don't allow that here...

Hi,

Thanks for that, It says it has errors

"The following block of code contains some errors. Please, remove all the reported errors and check again this robots.txt file.
Line 1 User-agent: *
Line 2 Disallow: /htdocs/*.swf
The "*" wildchar in file names is not supported by (all) the user-agents addressed by this block of code. You should use the wildchar "*" in a block of code exclusively addressed to spiders that support the wildchar (Eg. Googlebot)."

can you help here and re send the correct code. Thanks, and sorry for cross threading.
