Default ScaleX and ScaleY visual errors

Hello,

When I modify the scaleX or scaleY of one of my movieclips the result is that any part of the image that has some transparency becomes funky colored. Other sections just turn black. The exact code I'm using is,

ActionScript Code:
mainClip.scaleX = .20; new Tween(mainClip, "scaleX", None.easeNone, .20, 1, 20);

I've attached a sample image, it the tops lines should be the base of a solid image, then a gradient to a transparent background. Instead the image is like a spectrum and not transparent at all. If I don't modify the scaleX everything is fine. Any suggestions?

Unfortunately the problem still exists. I've explicitly turned off bitmap caching before the tween and the file still has the issue. I'm at a loss. The image appears GREAT, besides the black/specktrum problems at the transparency points.

Here is the swf. The image is pulled from the library, dropped on the stage and left alone. In action script I've positioned it to 0,0 and then performed the above tween.

Edit: After messing around with it a bit I've found that it wasn't the ScaleX or ScaleY at all!!!

Inside of the movieClip is a .png image with transparency. If I adjust the alpha setting of the movieclip I get the funky colors. This is very strange because these images and methods are a direct port from an AS2 version I did previously.
