Default error 400: Certificate file missing/cannot be opened

Whenever I try to publish an .air file from Flash CS 3 I get this error message:
error 400: Certificate file missing/cannot be opened

However, it was working 2 days again straight out of the box. However. now it wont create any files. I tried reinstalling AIR and Flash and nothing seems to fix it.

I have seen this thread on adobe however, it worked straight out of the box before and I didn't have to create any certificate and make any passwords. What is going on?

HELP!

hello Flash Gordon,

When ever you have to publish your air file from flash at that time you have to provide Certificate to that file. certificate some means for air package. you must have to create and provide it to publisher..

for more information read this..

Hi,

Thanks a bunch for the post, but I read that in the adobe thread I already linked to. However, I swear I didn't have to do this the first day I was using AIR. I downloaded some sample files from Adobe and clicked on one of their certificates and now, AIR is actually like this.

I'm using beta 2 and I am able to create the air file by creating my own digital certificate but its program association is unknown. Is that how it's supposed to be?

Signing was introduced with AIR Beta 2. In Beta 1 you didnt have to sign your applications. It is now required with Beta 2. As nomaeswonk pointed out, though, your are able to create your own digital certificates for signing using the AIR SDK (or the Flash/Dreamweaver AIR updates)

has anyone successfully packaged an AIR file? I've seen Lee Brimelow's tutorial (http://www.gotoandlearn.com/) "Developing AIR in Flash" and when he packages his AIR file, it poops out a nice little AIR file with an AIR icon. That doesn't happen for me.

Lee's tutorial is pretty good it is just beta 1 version. Maybe that is where your problem is.

yea, that had crossed my mind but i don't think that's it. i wonder if it has anything to do with using a certificate that you created? has anyone found any good documentation for publishing AIR files for beta 2 (besides the help files from adobe)?

Okay, so I figured it out. I had online downloaded the Adobe AIR update Beta 2 for Flash CS3 Professional which can be found here:
http://labs.adobe.com/wiki/index.php...ssional_Update

and I hadn't installed the Adobe AIR Beta 2 Installer found here:
http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/air.html
