Question [AS3] Creating a gem dropping game.

Hey all.

I've been trying to make a simple gem game. Mainly to help learn Arrays and stuff.

I've had a few goes with a multi-dimensional array and got quite stuck.
I'm not sure I'm doing it right at all. So i was hoping that someone would be so kind as to take a look at what I'm doing and then give me some pointers.

I dont want this re-written for me, not at all. Just some guidance.

Right now the gems are supposed to shrink all adjacent gems of same colour.. And then when You've removed all you want. You click the Drop button and ALL gems should falls into the appropriate place.
I planned to later add another button for dropping in more gems to replace the destroyed ones.

Any help on any of the things/ways im doing things would be greatly appreciated.

So thanks to anyone who looks!
