Default My New Flash Site

Here is a link to my new site. I know I ripped off 2advanced a little, so I expect those comments. Tell me what you think.

Thanks,
Kick

kickstart1970,

Hey, you ripped 2advaced...ok - its a cheap shot but it had to be said
ActionScript Code:
//only kidding

Well the site functioned well. One thing i immeadiatly noticed (or not as was the case) was that i could not see that catagories. The headings at the bottom left hand corner were almost invisible....not good news - make them stand out !!!

Is the whole site based on one timeline, because if you click on the same catagory, the whole section loads again. Can be a bit of a pain.

Background graphics are nice, site was smooth, nice transitions between each section. Liked the funky little MC's in the buttons.
I liked the site, easy to use, fun to use and clean. I particularly liked the portfolio section. - menu was nice to use.

Liked all the menus, nice dragable touch too. Nice site, well executed. Nice job.

Regards, snapple

Hey boyzdynasty and snapple, Thanks alot for your comments.

snapple: I have each section as a seperate swf file. I will try using a different color for the buttons.

Thanks,
Kick

Yo boyz...

I thought maybe you weren't making the loading swf the same size as the main timeline movie...that would help you to center the content properly.

it has to be the same size ?

Let me be more specific......

mainMovie // this my Main Movie
swf1 // mini movie 1
swf2 // mini movie 2
swf3 // mini movie 3

ok....

I want to load these mini movies into mainMovie *and mini movies are diff. sizes for formating purposes.....*

what I do is create an empty clip, load whichever mini movie I want first.
Then try to position where I want it.

*but not workin'*

in most cases....the movie doesn't ever appear
but I hear the music *so it did load.....*

I am doin' something wrong.....not sure what.....
But I had stop workin' on it for awhile now, had to start doin' *boring* school work

I like your layout very much.

Have you taken a design course somewhere before???

boyzdynasty: I loaded all my swf files into a Movie Clip called "MC Host". I positioned "MC Host" in the top left corner in the main swf file. All my external swf files are all the same size (700x420).

samanthayy: Thanks for the compliment I have taken a design course (in Vancouver BC. Canada). It was for 6 months and very expensive. The course I took was ok but I learned alot of stuff that I thought was useless. Some of the courses I took were not just for the web but for print too. I taught myself most of what I know. Have you taken a course? or are you going too?

no i have not but yes I want to...
because I find that although I like drawing, my design (layout) is very very bad....
for example I just can't arrange my things to get a professional look!!! I don't really understand why.

In Vancouver? Did you take your course at Emily Carr ?? I heard it is a very strict and expensive art school, but one of the best. I live in Vancouver, but I am not going to have time to take a design course until I finish school this year.

I am also trying to learn it myself. I am one of the editors in my school annual this year. I am responsible for the clubs section and has 8 pages to work with.

Do you design for a living? I really want to know because I wonder if I should choose designing as a career.
