Default Get the data from MySQL

Hi,

I develop a simple animation in flex3 using actionscript 3.0 and also have MySQL database for storing of movement. I want know what is the fast way to get the data from mySQL. I know using AS3.0 with PHP is one way but is there any faster way, can AS3.0 directly talk to MySQL?

Thank.....

If your app is an AIR project, then, yes, it has a bunch of classes that work with SQL. May be you can also write your protocol to talk to DB using binary socket... not sure though. Anyway even if it was possible I wouldn't do it because it means you have to let the client to store credentials needed to connect to DB.

Ok... AIR (former Apollo) is a platform for RIA (nifty abbreviations ). It has a virtual machine compatible with most OSs. This VM can run AS and JS. It has somewhat more features available for AS most of them dealing with file system and sendboxes. The disadvantages are: you have to install the VM on a client computer. The VM is greedy for system resources...

I could've imagine something like that exists =) *bookmarked" thanx =)
But... the security issue I've mentioned in my first post is also mentioned on their front page... I can think of some workarounds for MySQL in this case... like, say, creating temporary user for the session time with permissions like: GRANT [user] SELECT (or USAGE) and removing the user after the session expires... however, this needs some external tools that can create sessions and authorisation (no way I'm letting users to authorise directly to SQL - it's just insane =)...

true security issues exists but its just so handy and great for minor projects.
Not sure if OP wants an installation type APP, if it needs to be run via browser then AIR option is out

anyway flex wise, its very very easy to contact sql, theres code already out there, check flex 2 developers page , easily translated to flex 3.
I think developers name is MIKE something
