External swf with different frame rate

Hi,

I am creating a gallery which showcases some swfs too. Different swfs are of different fps. When loaded, they start running according to fps of parent movieclip.

I understand that that is expected behaviour. But I am sure it must be a common problem faced by many others. How is it overcome?

I have searched various forums, but all of them just say that child movieclip take fps from parent. Some of them say that some fps change is possible in AS3.

I am working on AS2 and I feel experts of this forum will definitely have some solution for this.

If no solution, at least is it possible that I open different swf's in a new window and they will run there appropriately?

Ok, I have figured how to open them in new window. It can be done using getURL.

Would have been straightforward for u ppl, but not for a noob like me

Although of course the main question remains.

Are the loaded .swfs at a lower framerates than the main movie?

Thanks. Quite a good solution that is in terms of finding a work around with the present restrictions.

But I am not quite pleased with it though. As in, its not elegant solution. I don't want to change fps of any of the movieclip as then they will not animate the same way they should. e.g. background effects will become slower/faster.

I am looking for a solution where the main movieclip doesn't change fps but a child movieclip/window or something else will have a different fps that would be same as exported swf.

If an html page can show swf of multiple fps in one window itself, why can't flash itself?

Is it possible to do by playing with html with dynamic text?

I think you're out of luck for AS2.0 then... The external browser popup window, is your only hope!

Thanks. I am assuming it would be possible to change FPS of any movieclip and not just Stage.

Btw, I was looking to start with AS3 and surprisingly there are no good resources. e.g. Tutorials on actionscript.org are about effects or some particular filter or something like that. But not for just beginning. livedocs.adobe don't answer all questions either. e.g. examples for MovieClip don't show how do I add addChild() for a movieclip defined in my library.

I am sure these are all basic questions, but as a starter you do need little clearer instructions.

Any pointer in that direction?
