AVI sound problem

Can anyone help? I have been trying the trial version but having weird problems with sound. I am converting a swf with embedded soundtrack. The result is an AVI without the embedded soundtrack but with background sounds (ie kids, tv etc) that is obviously being picked up by the built in microphone. Hopefully this is just a case of changing a setting on my computer but I don't know where.
