Well, It looks like I might be going back to school either at the local university, devry or getting a certification in cisco routing. I'm still undecided, so I thought I'd ask some advice here if anyone knew of a good career choice. I'm looking for something in the computer field that emphasizes programming, math, and good analytical skills. What should I go for, a Computer Science degree or Software engineering degree? What will be in high demands in a couple of years?

Thanks, I'd appreciate any input,
JML

Software is always in high demand, but people who can handle computers in a variety of ways will always get the work. Here in Aus software engineering is almost exactly the same course as Comp Sci but it is a year longer, with more programming experience. I was doing Comp Sci, orriginally because I didn't know how to program or whether I wanted to spend my life programming. Now that I do know how to program (and I defininatly DON'T want to spend my life doing it) I'm still sticking with Comp Sci. It gives you a broad base from which to start out in pretty much any aspect of computing, with an understanding of the intricate internals of hardware and software.

I would advise a more general degree than a CISCO routing course. I think it's always best yo keep your options open, as you never know what's 2 years down the track.

The Gospel, of Jesse. Amen.

Cheers
