Question Actionscript nullified in symbols...

My goal is to create a menu symbol, with all of the seperate button symbols within it, that I can copy to all the scenes so that whenever I add actionscript to the individual buttons, I don't have to go to every scene and add it to make it consistent.

This is basically what I have been doing that hasn't worked:

Create two button symbols with the basic on(release) script linked to the beginning two seperate scenes (scene 2 and 3, for example). Now, make those two button symbols into one symbol by selecting both and right clicking/create symbol. I've tried it with all of the different types (button/mc/graphic), and in every situation the actionscript linked to the scenes is nullified in the test movie, i.e. when you click the button, it doesn't go to the scene 2 or 3. Is there any way of working around this without complicated actionscripting, or atleast scripting which you only have to do once if it is complicated? Thanks for all your help guys!

Default

well if you put the buttons inside an mc then a nextScene action will look for the nextScene in that mc

you need to target _root.nextScene

cheers
