I am trying to complete the scrolling tutorial on this site,but i am having problems with the mask,it won't let me fill the frame with a colour,and when i test it all i see the the box that i have drawn round my scenes and noting else.

When you make a layer a mask it automatically disables editting. I deal witht hat in the tutorial. If the layer has a little lock symbol on it, uncheck it, then you should be fine.
