Default Is this possible with ActionScript 2.0?

Hi everyone,

I have a client that is looking to do a navigation menu similar to the one here (on the right): cosmostreet.com/#home (sorry, I can't make it a link, rules don't let me.)

Basically, what they want is so when you hover over an item, everything else fades do a darker color, and the item you are hovered on changes to a different color.

I have the hover part down for the color change for that item. However, I cannot for the life of me figure out how to make every other MC fade to something else.

Is this possible with ActionScript 2.0? If so, how is this done? I have been trying for hours to figure out any way.

Thanks for reading and thanks to any answer, in advance.

Having problems using the forum's attachment manager. I've uploaded it to DropBox.

The designer of the site asked if it was possible to do it, and I told him I'd try do to it, but I just can't figure it out.

So, this is what I have so far, just started it last night and the client is looking to have the entire thing done by Monday, so any and all help is greatly appreciated.

something like this is a simple approach

Code:
var mc_array:Array = new Array();
function fadeDown() {
	for (i=0; i<8; i++) {
		this["mc"+i].onEnterFrame = function() {
			this.text_mc._alpha -= 5;
			if (this.text_mc._alpha<=20) {
				delete this.onEnterFrame;
				this.text_mc._alpha = 20;
			}
		};
	}
}
function fadeUp() {
	for (i=0; i<8; i++) {
		this["mc"+i].onEnterFrame = function() {
			this.text_mc._alpha += 5;
			if (this.text_mc._alpha>=100) {
				delete this.onEnterFrame;
				this.text_mc._alpha = 100;
			}
		};
	}
}
for (i=0; i<8; i++) {
	this["mc"+i].text_mc.inner_txt.text = "label "+i;
	mc_array.push(this["mc"+i]);
	mc_array[i].onRollOver = function() {
		fadeDown();
		delete this.onEnterFrame;
		this.text_mc._alpha = 100;
	};
	mc_array[i].onRollOut = function() {
		fadeUp();
	};
}
