Is it possible to establish an ip connection between to remote pc's using an FlashMX .swf application to chat and send files back and forth?

you would need to use xmlsockets in flash, (see moocks unity server) or flash communication server.

it's not an IP connection it's an RTMP connection which is even better (i think), but essentially with flashcom your on your way to the interconnectedness of all things flash, clients anyways.
