I've got a Flash file with a volume slider. The slider itself is a swf that loads on top of the main timeline to control the volume of the main timeline. (I'm working on a Mac using 5a). It works fine when I save it as a swf file.

When I save a Mac Projector file it skips a frame on the loadMovie action (the movie actually disappears for a split second and I see the desktop) then reappears and it works fine.

The Windows Projector file fails to load the slider movie entirely. Any ideas? Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks, John.

I got this info. over at flashkit.com.

<:::: I can confirm (as can many others) this behavior. It is an unfortunate bug in the Flash projectors. And when we contacted Macromedia support, they claimed it was something with our system. Oh well.

We have used two different workarounds (neither very good). Since it only happens the first time loadMovie is called, you can have the projector movie be a single blank frame that issues the first loadMovie to load your intro. While this does not eliminate the problem, it minimizes it.

A second workaround is to do the projector in Director and embed the first flash movie in the Director projector. It works, but opens several other cans of worms. :::::: >

I tried loading the blank.swf into the first frame of my movie,
and it works, on the mac at least, have´nt tried it on a PC yet.

L.

Default Thanks

Leonard,

I don't have Director, but I tried the first workaround and it solves the skipping problem on the MAC. (This also reduced the file size of my Projecter files considerably, though they appear to play fine. Not sure why.)

On the PC my Volume Slider still isn't loading. Maybe I need to go back and look at the code. It just seems odd that it works fine on the Mac but not the PC.

Anyway, many thanks for your help. John.
