Default Need Sidescroller game tutorials.. or any help

Hey guys, I got assigned to make a flash game next semester (january - april) and I really want to make something I can be proud of.
Basically I want to recreate something similar to Mario or Megaman (moreso Megaman) in Flash.
I have seen it done, and have emailed the creator of that game for help.

Since there are not that many sites on Flash Gaming Tutorials that I can find, I came here.
I want to learn how to make a sidescroller game like Megaman. Open source would be nice, but I really want to learn it myself from a tutorial.

Can anyone give me any help? Here is an example of what I wish to accomplish. (Keep in mind, I am probably intermediate-advanced level of ASing, not a beginner)

This is the game, it's pretty good for a Flash game...

So, anybody around to offer some help, sites with tutorials or a general Flash game making site?
Thanks guys, email me if you would like with more indepth information.

Here is an example of something I made but I'm having problems with it.
If you jump on the 2nd platform from the other it screws up where it should land and lands about 2 pixels above the platform. It will still fall off (the hero ball) when it gets to the end, but it's like it is floating.

Can someone give me a hand with it?

Thanks alot.
