Is there a way to call a .avi movie into flash??

Does anyone who how to bring an .avi file into flash?

Nope, I've tried that already, it's impossible, the only video format you can insert is QuickTime. if the program you're using to edit video is Adobe Premiere you simply have to export it as quicktime.

Although you can insert and even modify and export QuickTime you can't have those fancy buttons like play, stop, rewind or fast forward like you do in Director. Flash alows you to export video but importing and controlling it's limited.

You simply import it (as a jpeg).

the number of frames must be enough to see the whole movie
so, if you have a 30 sec's movie at 25fps, you must have
30*25 frames on the stage.

what do you mean by import as JPEG?
does it mean that i have to import it frame by frame?
does flash break .quicktime clip into jpeg?

could you please describe the step of importing the quicktime clip into flash..

ups, I messed up my answer!

You import your .mov movie in the same way you import anything to Flash with "File>Import" option.

your movie must have the frames needed to play the complete movie (by this I mean, if your .mov is at a frame rate of 25fps and it has 30 sec's you must put your .fla at the frame rate of 25 fps and have those same 30 sec's), it should be around 750 frames for this example.(25fps*30''=750frames)

Now i can import it into flash.. cool..
but when i published.. i can't see the quicktime movie in flash..

why?... is it because the frame was too short? or is there anything elese that i need to do?

No, you'll see it in quicktime or avi if you export it as that, in flash you get vectorial images not video.
Sorry, but the Flash doesn't allow it.
once I saw something about video on the tutorial's of Actionscripts.org, maybe there's asolution there for what you want...

checkout http://www.wilform.com . They have launched Flix which apparently allows streaming video via flash... not use it myself yet.
