I hope I dont sound confusing, but this is probably a simple question, because I see this technique used alot. I want to develop a page in flash that has individual movies playing, but I want each movie constrained in its individual box( kinda like watching 3 TV's at once). When I try making each animation in "create new symbol" I select "movie clip" but when I do this it inherits the properties ( background color and movie size) of the main page..........Am I making sense? Another example of what Im trying to do is, say I have an animation but I want it to only fit in a circle, without the movement(animation)going out beyond the circles boundaries.........Im going crazy trying to figure this out, if anyone could help me, I would be in debt to you forever.....Is this maybe a problem that can be fixed by using the "load movie" action????........Thanks to all who read this. Masking is what you're referring to.
See http://www.actionscripts.org/tutoria..._scrol_3.shtml for a bit of a rundown about what a mask is and an example of how to impliment one. If you still don't get it, repost and I'll help you out. Cheers Jesse

Actually that just tells you what a mask is, not really how do make one. Ok basically you just insert a layer above the layer you want to hide bits of. In this new layer you make a shap (color makes no difference) which controls the area you wish to see in the laye rbelow. Then you right click the layer with the shape and select "Mask". You will now find when you run your movie you only see the content which is beneath the shape drawn on the mask layer...
See my example made just for you: http://www.actionscripts.org/help/djaber/masking.html And download the source (Flash 5, PC): http://www.actionscripts.org/help/djaber/masking.fla Cheers Jesse
