Unhappy

Can anyone help me? I wanted to create menu consistently animated text effect buttons using an actionscript text effect that I created for a web page(eg. all characters of each menu selection flys in or fades in...). ...So I started a new .fla file and built the texteffect as a movie symbol. When I went back to the scene, and dragged the movie symbol onto the working area, I can see the outline of the movie object but it doesn't play when I preview or publish it.

If anyone knows how or knows where there is a tutorial on this, I would greatly appreciate it. Have a good one.
