flash player version 6 and AS2.0

Can someone please clarify this for me?

I am using several components and scripts which use AS2.0.

Will these movies still playback correctly when run in a browser with Flash Player 6 plugin? I am publishing to Flash Player 6 when creating my swf files.

I suddenly had a shocking thought that maybe, despite publishing to Flash Player 6, my AS2.0 scripts will not run properly unless played back with Flash Player 7.

Any info greatly appreciated.

Does Actionscript 2 work ok in Flash player 6 ? Or Flash player 6 r65 ?

It is possible to select Actionscript 2.0 and Flash Player 6 from the publish settings dialog box, but I do need to make sure, so if anyone has experience of this, I'd appreciate your info.

yeah it does work, somethings do not work however. components for example are dodgy, some of them work some do not, there are also flashplayer 7 only methods for example getNextHighestDept(). a large part of the uicomponent framework, does not work.

Hi Simon,

One additional thing to check on for compatibility is that you've unchecked the option,

"Optimize for Flash Player 6 r65"

You can find this check box by going to "File", "Publish Settings..." and clicking the "Flash" tab.
