I should know this because I've been working with the damn things for over a year, but I feel it necessary to make absolutely sure.
A CD-ROM, using an autorun.inf file, plays a flash projector (exe) file when it is inserted. This flash projector in turn can call up every other file on the CD, which are all swf files. It loads them into level 0 of itself. The big question here is: - Does the user of the CD need to have the Flash 5 player installed on his computer to run the CD??? I've signed up for a distribution license of the player, and currently include it with the CD-ROM, but if I don't actually need it, because the projector uses its internal player to load the swf files..... Can anyone say for absolute definite? |

flash projectors don't need a pluggin, its basically the flash pluggin with the movie attached to the end of it and its extension changed to .exe, loading movies has no effect on if the person needs the pluggin.

Cheers for the reply,
It wasn't really what I was asking though. My question was a bit hit and miss, I guess. I know that you can play a Flash projector without any need of the plug-in. What I want to know is if you can use this internal plug-in to load pure *.swf content into the projector without the need to have an actual third-party Flash plug-in installed on your computer. Hence there would be no need to include an option to install a Flash Plug-In on the aforementioned CD-ROM, because all the *.swf files will be loaded into the projector which has one anyway? |

as long as you are running a projector you don't need the pluggin installed. if you load swf's in to the projector you still don't need the pluggin installed, the only time you need it is when you are running swf's either in html or with no projector

Do you guys have tested yet: load swf-files from the projector without any (flash) plugin??
I need it to know for sure, because I'm creating a cd-rom for education use on schools. |

Hi,
Yep I've had my own CD-ROM out for about 6 months now and, so far, nobody has come clamouring for their money back. Oh yeah....and I did test it myself of course. So go for it! |
