Simple (?!) login button press/key press issue

Can anyone have a look at this situation and tell me of an easy way to implement it. Basically, I want the user to be able to enter some text, (username) then either click the button OR press enter. If the field is empty they should get the "Please type..." message. Ive tried a few ways, but I can't see whats going wrong. Many thanks, D

Hi...

Can't open your fla, but it go's something like this:

_root.bttn.onRelease = function(){

if(myinput.text.length>0){
_root.gotoAndStop(wherever)
}else{
myinput.text = "Please type..."
}

}

Then add a listener for the enter key:

ear = []
ear.onKeyDown = function(){

if(Key.getCode()==13){
_root.bttn.onRelease()
}
}

Will need to check the syntax on that because it is just off the top of my head... but that is the general idea
