Can we make a flash movie having a invisible background (as a .gif).

yes but it only works in IE4+

1: Create Movie
2: File > Publish Settings
3: Click on Flash tab and make the settings you wish
4: Click on the HTML tab
5: Change the Window Mode's drop down menu to "Transparent Windowless"
6: Click "Okay", this will export your movie and HTML file.
The background for your flash movie is now transparent and Z-INDEXing is now applicable. And as Jesse so kindly addressed [o: it is only compatible in IE 4 plus browsers. So what better reason would you need to get an IE 4 plus browser? Additionally, I am led to believe that IE is the standard and most popular web browser (Opinion derived from online statistics and poles I have seen).
