multiple font questions

hey all

Please have a look at this

The top 3 main buttons (and their sub buttons) have the text loaded in from an external text file.

The bottom 4 main buttons are dynamic text boxes but I have just inserted the text myself in flash.

The bottom 4 set of sub buttons are static text.

All the dynamic text boxes are set to Arial.

I have noticed that the animation on the externally loaded text is jumpy - is there anything I can do about this?

I am also concerned that some of text may be cut off (eg international services) - how can i avoid this?

Basically, I am wanting to learn about ways of using non-antialiased text and the pitfalls involved

Are you embedding the fonts with each text box?

nope - then it would just anti-alias and I dont want that...

The bottom four sets of submenus (Static text) are antialiased. If you are trying to avoid this you need to check the "Use Device Fonts" option. This is probably why they aren't jumpy.

As far as the limits of dynamic text are concerned, I think you've touched all of the major ones. Many people have tried to cope with Flash and font aliasing for quite a while with fairly limited results. Maybe Flash 6 will be better. Another thing you probably know about is the font set a miniml.com, they look blocky, and you have to be careful with how you use them.
