Default XML Hack

You can use the XML class to load binary data such as an m3u file. It obviously won't recognize it as XML data, so you will not be able to use the XML class' methods to manipulate it, but it at least gives you access to it:

import mx.utils.Delegate;

var path:String = "my.m3u";
var xmlList:XML = new XML();
xmlList.ignoreWhite = true;
xmlList.onLoad = Delegate.create( this,onListLoaded );
xmlList.load( path );

function onListLoaded ()
{
trace( xmlList.toString() );
}
