Default Please Give Us Advice On Redesigning the Corporate Website.

Firstly we would sincerely thank those nice friends on some forums who reviewed our website http://www.sothink.com and pointed out problems in many aspects.

Now we are planning to redesign our website and we are figuring some general outline for that. Please help kindly us with following quesitons, as we want to be professional!

1. What in your view is an ideal homepage for a software company like us?

2. Can you suggest some required function/technology that a website for us should have?

3. We know we should avoid taboos, but for details we know very few.can you give one
or two advice on that?

We believe your suggestion will be great help to us.

Thank you in advance!

Firstly I'm curious as to why you feel the need to change your website. What doesn't "work" for you guys at the moment? Maybe list some of the "problems" you refered to and it might be easier to suggest fixes.
I like homepages that put their software right up in front, so there's no fishing around for your products, and you already do that. Perhaps you could feature the latest of your products or services in a larger window right up top and in the user's face, like a featured window, the way apple.com and macromedia.com do. (Offhand, any chance of a Mac-compatible decompiler?)

its just....when we compare our site with competitor's...we see ours not professional enough and difficult to add in contents.

Decompiler on Mac,? soon, our engineers are working on that

I'm no expert designer by any means, but I'm anal about details. When checking your homepage against others, I found your site to has the most variations in font size, color, underline colors, etc... These font "styles" are look great and consistent within each column and header, but contrast too much as a whole, in comparison.
Also, your search-engine-grabbing text at the top (and I know you guys have probably already had roundtable discussion about the pros and cons). It works wonders sometimes, but it's something you'll rarely see in the "big dog" sites.

PS Hooray for your engineers

all the variations are because of from time to time artificial modification..
the initial problem maybe we did not design the templates flexible.

as for the txt on top,...well it will never fit any design but ..if we get famous enough we can cancel it.
