It's called flash lite. See the flash lite authoring guidelines, or just browse through the first link.

You will need to have a decent understanding of desktop flash development to follow along.

Talking Flash Lite 1.0 / 1.1 / 2.0 Deuce information

I got a butt-load for you, but in the mean time, get use to the info below

Flash Lite 1.1 code:
http://www.scottjanousek.com/downloa...l_onesheet.pdf

Flash Lite 2.0 Deuce code (soon):
http://www.FlashLite2.com

Flash Lite from NTT DoCoMo (English)
http://www.nttdocomo.co.jp/english/p...ake/index.html

I recommend waiting out for "Deuce" since its all actionscript 2 Flash 7
Good Luck!

Howdy and Welcome...

It's exciting news to hear that Flash Lite 2.0 is coming soon... But do you remember how long it took for the phone makers & Macromedia work together to have Flash Lite installed on the mobile phones??? It wasn't very pretty...

It's all good to use Flash Lite 2.0 but it is going to take some time to get the market mature up... There is not going to be a quick transition from FL1.1 to FL2.0 even in Japan... It will be gradual and time consuming transition and you, as a developer, should know FL1.1 whole lot better than FL2.0 at least for a year or more... At least that's what I am thinking...

Thank you!
I agree that it will take some time for the transition into Flash Lite 2.0, and as a developer working at a content development company, we have been eyeing and hinting with the manufacturers here in Japan about when it will come available.
Providers here in Japan such as vodafone, Au, and DoCoMo, have been preparing for something big here. Others also say that there will be a big change in phones. We are thinking to ourselves, "What the hell will this big change be?".
Flash Lite 1.1 has become somewhat repetitive making calendars, clocks, getbattery,
Also, content developers here are becoming more advanced in creating mobile websites using flash Lite, that we have superceeded the IP's talents. Now as these IP monopolies and mergers are rapidly increasing in Japan (charging $4,000 to develop mobile sites for japanese companies), they want to have some advantages.
There has also been a big change in mobile phone design. So instead of viewing your mobile phone vertically, they are now designing these to be viewed horizontally. Check my website to see these designs.
We here in Japan are predicting something will come about with in the next 3-6 months. Once we get the information on which phones will be equiped with Flash Lite 2.0, we will let all know and do our testing here at our company.
Have you heard of "MediaFlo"? I think that is something to look into. DoCoMo has get a strong interest in that as well.
hmmmm. Flash Lite "Deuce" and "MediaFlo"!? What could it be?

Awesome...that's a load off my mind.

I've been contacted recently by a company called Helio (www.helio.com), which is a considerably well-funded new company that plans to launch next spring to distribute trendy, techy cell-phone services to US. They are taking alot of the new innovations from around the world, and Flash Lite support is one of them, so they want me to develop flash interfaces for their phones.

I was a little pissed to find out there was no AS 2.0 support with Flash Lite, but hopefully they'll be able to implement this Flash-Lite 2 once it comes out next month.

Well, the good news is, any of you guys living in the US will soon have greater access to flash-lite supported cell phones next year =)
