Flash 8 file formats and Flash MX

Can we use .fla's created in flash 8 in Flash MX (is it backwards compatible?)

We're considering putting one of our designers on version 8 but if our producers have to upgrade to 8 as well in order to even use the .fla files then it would affect my descision.

Any comparison or ideas appreciated

No. Flash 8 Fla's can only be opened in Flash 8. Flash 8, however, can open older Flash files and, like Flash MX 2004 before it, can save to Fla one version below the current, i.e. FMX04 could save to MX04 and MX, 8 can save to 8 and MX04.

What about 8 to MX.

Wouldnt matter anyway it would just save an extra step.

No, as I said above, 8 can only save to 8 and MX04.

If someone had 04, they could then save it again back to MX
