more Text ?? -- can you mask dynamic text?

apologies for the separate post but I just came across this too.

I've got a mask on a menu item.

the menu item consists of a dynamic text box (one layer) and a background 'button' graphic (on another layer)

when I apply the same mask to both layers the text completely disappears. (even the text that I originally type into the Text Panel)??

when I put the text on a different layer (not masked) the text is fine, and recieves the variables fine so I know that its not a comunication problem...

or at least I don't think it is

If you embed the font you should be able to see your dynamic field beneath a mask.
