Default Widgets and classes miscellaneous

Hi hi,
I am a bit unsure of something-I'm hoping you all can clarify:-
If you are developing a large application, but there isn't too much in common- do you really need to use classes? Also the UI components such as the scrollbars and radio buttons-are they widgets??

Ok, hi just one more question:- can anyone send me an example of what the code in an external .as file looks like?
If you include it, will it be seen by the whole timeline??
