ApolloRanch is being held at the University of Colorado’s Fiske Planetarium in Boulder to Inform the Interactive Development Community about Adobe’s New Apollo Technology

DENVER, CO. April 23, 2007 – Following the recent product release of Apollo, Xylem Interactive and Creation Chamber have teamed up with Adobe Systems, Inc. to host ApolloRanch, a developer enrichment event to inform and provide first-hand instruction and tutorials from Adobe software engineers and Rich Internet Application experts from various organizations that have pioneered pre-release Apollo development efforts. Adobe will be announcing the event on their Flex Events page on their Web site at http://www.adobe.com/products/flex/events/. “This event is going to be a great opportunity for fostering the Denver development community and the fact that it is being held here is a testament to the great interactive talent pool in Colorado,” states Phil Lockwood, founder and CEO of Creation Chamber.

As stated on Adobe Labs (http://labs.adobe.com/wiki/index.php/Apollo), Adobe Apollo is a developer technology that serves as a cross-OS runtime that allows developers to leverage their existing web development skills (Flash, Flex, HTML, Ajax) to build and deploy desktop RIA’s. Apollo enables developers to create applications that combine the benefits of web applications – network and user connectivity, rich media content, ease of development, and broad reach – with the strengths of desktop applications – application interactions, local resource access, personal settings, powerful functionality, and rich interactive experiences. Apollo enables familiar application interaction models, including drag-and-drop support, rich clipboard access, and desktop and system shortcuts. Apollo applications run as regular applications, and do not have to run within another application or shell (as web applications do by running within the browser).

The Adobe representatives leading this groundbreaking event are highly influential in the development community and bring a tremendous value through knowledge sharing on this leading edge technology. The keynote speaker for the event, Mike Chambers, Senior Product Manager for Developer Relations at Adobe, is giving an introduction and overview of the Apollo technology and it’s capabilities and will be facilitating developer discussions throughout the event. Adobe’s Kevin Hoyt, a Senior Product Specialist for Flex, will be demonstrating use of the File API within Apollo. Real world Apollo Application demonstrations will be given by experts such as Creation Chamber’s chief technology officer, Gary Clift. The last Apollo event, ApolloCamp was held in San Francisco and drew a great deal of interest from around the country. Kevin Hoyt states about ApolloCamp, “The event itself was a huge success with an eager and inventive crowd devouring code well into the evening.” It’s successor, ApolloRanch, the Colorado-held Apollo event is already drawing a lot of attention and is sure to be an event not to be missed for developers of rich Internet applications (RIA). ApolloRanch is for one day only and is free to the development community. The event is taking place on Cinco de Mayo of 2007, and will be held from 5:00 PM until 11:30 PM.
