This conference helps web designers and developers gain a deeper understanding of web standards and emerging best practices, while offering fresh ideas and new directions in the web design industry.

An Event Apart conferences, developed in 2005 by Jeffrey Zeldman and Eric Meyer, are known for bringing together the greatest minds and hottest talents in web design today. The initial 2009 schedule for An Event Apart takes the conference to three cities: Seattle, May 4–5; Boston, June 22–23; and San Francisco, December 7–8. An Event Apart Seattle will be held at the Bell Harbour Conference Center, while An Event Apart Boston takes place at the Boston Marriott Copley, and An Event Apart San Francisco is to be held at The Palace Hotel.
