The ActionScript.org Content Management System
One of the biggest changes to the site in recent times was the introduction of a Content Management System (CMS). The CMS means that those who wish to contribute articles are able to do so, without requiring the immediate intervention of the ActionScript.org Staff.
Some of the features of the CMS include:
- Users can register as Authors;
- Authors can add new articles & tutorials at any time;
- Authors can edit their online content (fix mistakes, update content) any time;
- Each Author has an online profile and biography, automatically associated with all their content;
- Built in WYSIWYG HTML editor with Flash support;
- Firefox & IE compatible;
- RSS content syndication;
- Many other features.
Who should become an Author?
Authors are those people who will write articles and tutorials for use by ActionScript.org. You do not need to become an Author to use other services such as the Forums or Employment section. You do not need to become an Author to contribute Open Source movies or other content to the site.
If you wish to contribute Articles/Tutorials to the site, you will need to become an Author.
How do I become an Author?
When we migrated from the old site, we automatically created Author profiles for all those who had previous written Articles for ActionScript.org. If you had content on the site already, you will already have an account in the system.
If you have never contributed an Article/Tutorial to ActionScript.org and wish to do so, you will need to register as an Author.
Regardless of whether you are a new or existing Author, the process for registration is the same. Please begin by reading the below info rmation. Once you fully understand the below info rmation, you may proceed to Register via the form at the bottom of this page.
A Note on Content Quality
We at ActionScript.org pride ourselves on the quality of the content we offer, above quantity. For this reason, all content submitted will be subject to verification before it becomes publicly available.
Content Usage Rights
There is a need for us to maintain proper content usage arrangements with our Authors, for everyone's benefit. For instance, users cannot benefit from an Open Source file if they are not clearly allowed to use the techniques described in derivative works.
Our goal is to amalgamate all tutorials on the site under one set of Terms and Conditions (T&C). Articles can only be posted on ActionScript.org if you, as the Author, are willing to agree to the below T&C.
Please read the new terms set out below. Importantly you will at all times remain the owner of your content; these terms simply grant us the rights we require to display your content publicly.
Terms and Conditions
These T&C shall govern all content which you have submitted up to this date, as well as content submitted going forward. Should you have any questions or comments, please feel free to contact us via email.
This is an Agreement between the owners and operators of ActionScript.org (henceforth the Site) and the party registering as an Author (henceforth Contributor). This Agreement governs the rights for use of content already submitted or submitted in the future (henceforth the Content) by the Contributor, to the Site.
The Contributor agrees to grant to the Site a non-exclusive, perpetual, non-revocable, royalty-free, worldwide license to the Content. The Contributor also grants the Site the rights to reproduce, transmit, create derivative works of, distribute, publicly display and publicly perform the Content or any part thereof, including but not limited to ideas contained therein.
The Contributor grants to the Site the right to use the Contributor's name in connection with the submitted materials.
The Contributor acknowledges that the purpose of contributing Content to the Site is to share information, which may later be used for commercial purposes by those who read/experience the Content. The Contributor grants all visitors to the Site a non-exclusive, perpetual, non-revocable, royalty-free, worldwide license to make derivative works from the Content, and use to use the Content and any derivatives works for commercial purposes and non-commercial purposes.
The Contributor warrants that they are over 18 years of age and have appropriate legal authority to grant these rights against the Content to the Site. The Contributor warrants that the Content is of the Contributor's sole creation and that the Content does not infringe any patent, trademark, trade secret, copyright or other proprietary rights of any party. The Contributor agrees to indemnify the Site, its owners, staff and agents, against any losses arising from Contributor's breech of these terms.
Forums alignment
The ActionScript.org Forums are used to coordinate content creation and approval processes. There are a group of Forums which are reserved for the use of Authors and designed to facilitate the content creation process.
You will require an account on the ActionScript.org Forums before you ca sign up as an Author. You should use the same username and email address in the below Author Registration form as you use on the ActionScript.org Forums. This will enable us to align your accounts and give you the required access to those Forums which are available only to Authors.
