However, I don't know if I'm using an incorrect version of Flash or am missing something, but when I get to the step 11 I don't see "Convert Symbol to Flex Component" as one of my possible Commands choices.  If I right-click on the selected movie clips I see "Convert to Compiled Clip" but that just creates four separate SWF files.  Is there something that I need to add to Flash to get them combined into one?<br/><br/>

It's a free download from Adobe. There is a link at the top of the page that will take you to the download. Once there, look for another link that says...
Flex Skin Design Extensions & Flex Component Kit for Flash CS3

That will add the "Convert Symbol to Flex Component".<br/><br/>
