Happy holidays

We'd just like to wish everyone a very safe and happy holiday period for 2009, and a very happy New Year! We're sure 2010 will continue to be an exciting year, and we look forward to sharing it with you!

Forums Fixed

Some people have been noticing issues with forum uploads over the last fortnight. These have been resolved and things should now be back to normal. Apologies for any inconvenience.

Open Source Movies Section Revamped

One of the very first sections of ActionScript.org was the open source Movies Section, which was sorely in need of an update. While it might not look any different, the section has been revitalized and is now ready to accept those FLA's you've got sitting around. Imagine how much use they could be to someone like you, trying to do exactly the same thing in a month's time! Why not add them now?

Site Downtime

Some of you will have noticed errors in various sections of site over the last 24 hours. Unfortunately ActionScript.org has been the subjected of a malicious hack attempt which resulted in some damage to the site. We are currently in the process of recovery and will be back up and running ASAP.

Flash On Tap - Free Gold Passes

Flash On Tap have announced they are giving away "Golden Tickets" to people who have recently received a pink slip from their employer. What a great idea! To find out more check out this link.

New CMS etc

We've recently updated the content management system with some minor updates, and we're also making some changes to other sections of the site over coming weeks. If you happen to experience any issues, please be sure to let us know via the Contact Us page! Thanks!

Flash On Tap - Boston - Free ticket

[Edit -- Sorry all, the free pass is now gone] Working with our friends at Flash On Tap we've managed to secure one free delegate pass, which we now want to give away to someone on the site. Your role will be to show up and enjoy the conference (May 28-30) and report back on what was cool, via blog entries on ActionScript.org. We provide the ticket, but you'll need to cover your own accommodation, travel expenses, etc.

As always passes will be awarded to people who have contributed to the site over those who have not, but we welcome anyone to apply. Please send us an email (staff [@] actionscript.org) or use the contact form to let us know if you're interested.

Earth Hour

Don't forget that Earth Hour is coming up, on March 28th. We'll be participating, and encourage you to do so too. Find out more at the Earth Hour website.

Flash In The Can - Toronto

We now have two passes to give away to Flash In The Can in Toronto to whomever would like to represent ActionScript.org at this great event. All you have to do in return is be on your best behaviour, and write a few blog posts on ActionScript.org so we can all hear about your antics and what you saw.

As always passes will be awarded to people who have contributed to the site over those who have not, but we welcome anyone to apply. Please send us an email (staff [@] actionscript.org) or use the contact form to let us know if you're interested.

FITC Amsterdam - Free Passes

We're working with the great team at Flash In The Can to help them promote their upcoming, world-famous Amsterdam conference (Feb 22-24). We've got two delegate passes to give away [Editor's update: sorry everyone, these have already gone to two deserving site contributors] to whomever would like to represent ActionScript.org at this great event. All you have to do in return is be on your best behaviour, and write a few blog posts on ActionScript.org so we can all hear about your antics and what you saw.

Site Migration

Please be aware that we are in the process of moving to a new server. We have changed our DNS records and the switch is now underway, but may take up to three days depending on your ISP. Please excuse any issues with the site for the next week, and be sure to let us know if you spot problems so we can fix them up ASAP.

Also, we'd like to take the opportunity to wish all our visitors a happy and safe festive season! Thanks for another great year of your contributions and support. We look forward to continuing to grow the community, with your help, in 2009.

Continued server issues

We're still experiencing server issues which we are working hard to resolve. Please bear with us during this time. We apologize for any inconvenience.

We've been experiencing some issues with server reliability over the last week. Please excuse any down time. We're working to resolve the issues as quickly as possible.

Dozens of new authors approved

Our apologies to those Authors who have been awaiting approval of their accounts over the last few weeks. We had a big backlog due to a processing issue which has now been resolved, and your accounts have been approved. Don't forget, if you ever want to contribute to ActionScript.org by writing tutorials or articles, you can do so via the Become an Author link at the top of each page.
